Windows 10 Black Screen / White bars in Options menu[edit]

The options menu is broken on Windows 10, displaying as a black screen, sometimes with white bars

Disable fullscreen optimizations^[1]
This should get rid of the white boxes in the options menu. Some users report that it fixes the options menu issue entirely. Right-click on the game's executable file in its directory (`<path-to-game>w2.exe`) and go to `Properties -> Compatibility` Tick the 'Disable fullscreen optimizations' box Click `Apply`, then `OK`

Change resolution to no higher than 1920x1080^[2]
The game (particularly the options menu) seems to have problems running in resolutions higher than `1920x1080`. Lowering the resolution can fix the issue. Some users report being able to enter the Options menu by checking `'Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution'` in the executable's `Compatibility` options and changing the resolution in-game. If that doesn't work, try the steps below. Press `WIN KEY + R` (on Windows) to make the 'Run Prompt' appear Type `regedit` then click `OK` In the Registry Editor go to `HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWARETeam17DigitalLTDWormsWorldPartyOptions` Change `DisplayXSize` to `1920` and `DisplayYSize` to `1080`

Broken frontend menu[edit]

Fixes main menu bug with most recent patch. Select game shortcut and right-click. Select 'Properties' Select 'Compatibility' in top bar. Select 'Disable fullscreen optimisations' and click apply.
