  2. First you want to attach the Workbench 3.1 “Workbench” floppy to DF0 on the virtual machine. The floppy is found at C: Users Public Public Documents Amiga Files Shared adf amiga-os-310-workbench.adf and it can be mounted read only if you like. Next we want to copy a few files off that floppy into the RAM: disk as we will need them later.

The OS 3.1 SetPatch command will load the 68040.library, but you need to replace the stock 68040 with the updated 68040 one. If you don’t, the 68060 library isn’t used. Later versions of the OS eg: and 3.1.x has an updated SetPatch that can detect the 68060 and bypass the crash on boot of a new install. The game was written for PAL stock Amiga A1200 (020) @ 50fps and it loads directly to chipmem, takes over the system and uses RNC dosio code to read the drives using FFS file system. SetPatch should also be applied if you are running it from your own Workbench setup and if not direct from Floppy.

The following support materials and services for Classic Amiga systems are available:

  • Physical media, including floppy disks, CompactFlash cards, and ROMs, are available via reseller partners
  • A complete set of downloadable disk images (described below) is available for purchase

The downloadable Floppy & Hard Disk Image Pack contains 16 floppy disk images (ADF files) and 2 hard disk images (HDF files), which make it possible to boot and set up any Classic Amiga model (including the Amiga 1000, 3000 and 4000T).

Included ADF files (follow the links for a more detailed description and list of recent improvements):

  • Workbench 3.1 Floppy Disk Set (6 images, requires 3.0 or higher ROM)
  • Workbench 2.1 Floppy Disk Set (5 images, requires 2.04 or higher ROM)
  • Workbench 1.3 Floppy Disk Set (2 images, requires 1.2 or higher ROM)
  • Kickstart 1.3 Floppy Disk (required to boot Amiga 1000 systems)
  • Superkickstart 1.3+2.04 Floppy Disk (required to boot early Amiga 3000 systems)
  • Relokick 1.4a Floppy Disk (to downgrade newer systems to 1.3 in order to run some older software)

An additional copy of the above files, renamed to '8.3' (short) file names, is included in the Disk Image Pack, for use with devices like some floppy drive emulators that do not support 'long' file names.

The hard disk images are the result of installing from the corresponding floppy disk set, and are ready for imaging to CF cards or similar devices.

Important: the downloadable Floppy & Hard Disk Image Pack does not contain physical media. An Amiga computer or dedicated PC hardware are required to write the images to Amiga floppy disks or other media. The floppy disk image files are also suitable for use in floppy drive emulators (Cortex, DTX200, EMUFFD, Gotek, HxC, Mark II, etc.), which can be used to replace an Amiga floppy disk drive.

AmigaOS 3.1.4: The official update youve been waiting for.

Amiga Workbench 3 1 Adf Stocks

The new, cleaned-up, polished Amiga operating system for your 68K machine fixes all the small annoyances that have piled up over the years. Originally intended as a bug-fix release, it also modernizes many system components previously upgraded in OS 3.9.
Contrary to its modest revision number, 3.1.4 is arguably as large an upgrade as OS 3.9 was, and surpasses it in stability and robustness. Over 320K of release notes cover almost every aspect of your favourite classic AmigaOS -- from bootmenu to datatypes.
Some highlights:
  • Over 20 Kickstart ROM modules and many more disk-based core OS components were fixed, updated, or added.
  • Native support for all Motorola 68000-68060 CPUs, and a more robust Auto-Configuration process.
  • Support for large hard disks, including boot, for any OS 2.x/3.x-compliant controller driver supporting HD_SCSI_CMD, TD_64 and/or NSD. Dedicated boot partitions are a thing of the past, even on legacy devices. You can also use variably-sized 'super floppies'.
  • A modernized Workbench as powerful as the OS 3.9 version, including new or refreshed Preference editors in the legacy OS 3.1-'GadTools' style. Its tools such as DiskCopy and Format fully support large media. Printer, hard disk and many other support tools have been fixed and upgraded.
  • Remember Diskdoctor? It earned its PhD and is now ready to reliably rescue data from your floppies or hard disks.
  • The CLI/Shell and many of its commands have been reworked and modernized, now sporting native support for pipes, softlinks, hardlinks and long filenames. New commands support running Workbench programs from the Shell or upgrading ROM modules.
  • CrossDOS and the CD-ROM filesystem are now smarter, faster, and multi-threaded, adding Rockridge and Joliet extensions as well as UDF.
  • Fully reworked, modernized and bug-fixed printer drivers include support for PCL and PostScript, along with legacy NEC and Epson printers.
  • An optional upgradeable intuition.library provides off-screen dragging of windows for native and P96 RTG screens.
  • A colorful, professionally designed icon set is included, along with the traditional four-color icons.
  • Missing something? Registered users will also gain online access to legacy components which have been phased out.
