I've downloaded Citrix Receiver and can go into my works dashboard but it isn't connecting. As it's a personal computer, my work IT can't help me. They've told me it's an issue with settings - Citrix needs to launch side by side with other apps. I've done a bit of Googling and it's clear there is a problem with Windows 10 and Citrix. Symptoms or Error

Note: This issue applies to, Citrix Workspace app (Microsoft store).
Launching a virtual app or desktop using .ica file with Citrix Workspace app for Windows (Microsoft store version) leads to “Element not found” Error

Solution

  1. Go to Windows settings, in the search bar type “default… “and choose the option highlighted below
  1. On “default app for each type of file” scroll to the bottom of the page and look for .ica NOTE: If there are multiple 'Citrix Workspace” listed (select the one which has icon associated) as shown below

  1. Once the above settings are applied, virtual app and desktop launch will succeed.
